FedEx Cargo Aircraft’s Nose Gear Collapses During Maintenance

On Wednesday, February 4, 2026, a ground incident occurred involving a FedEx Express cargo aircraft at Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI). The aircraft, parked in an area outside the hangar zone, settled onto its nose after the nose landing gear collapsed during routine maintenance operations.

Airline officials confirmed that no personnel inside or around the aircraft were injured and that the incident resulted in material damage only. Emergency teams were dispatched to the area as a precaution, but since the aircraft was in a parking position and within the hangar area, there was no disruption to general airport traffic. FedEx has launched an investigation into the cause of the technical failure, and airport operations were reported to be continuing as normal.
